A Change in the Weather
For this series I have used images of individually small things I take enjoyment in seeing, such as indigenous and exotic flora and fauna, rocks, sticks, leaves, bugs, bark, and shells , to create a collective visual landscape that together maps part of the area in which I live.
The use of stitching in some of my work is a practical element to tie together images but also represents walking and travelling - in my work I celebrate the joy of finding and recording natural discoveries from the everyday - these things make up life and make my life enjoyable.
All these artworks are handprinted in small editions (usually around 10) and prices are for unframed work. Each work contains elements of etching and aquatint on 300gsmhahnemuhle paper and some are printed directly onto the paper while others are cut and handsewn onto thick Kent cartridge paper backing using cotton thread.
